Part-Time with Benefits
Summary Transport Aide moves patients from and within the Emergency Care Center to patient care areas, including the Urgent Care Center, Radiology, and inpatient units by transport vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, using proper body mechanics according to the age–specific needs of the patients. Provides other services that support the delivery of care to patients.
Responsibilities
Reports to area and charge nurse as assigned, picks up and delivers patients using transport vehicle according to age specific needs.
Transports patients to and from locations within inpatient, outpatient, or emergency areas or for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research procedures.
Observes patients on stretchers and assists with bathroom needs.
Communicates with charge nurse to receive assignments and patient transport information.
Cleans transport vehicles and notifies supervisor of needed repairs.
Receives and delivers charts, requisitions, various reports and medical records; obtains signatures on forms as required.
Delivers personal belongings of patients.
Receives and delivers supplies, specimens, medications, and equipment when requested.
Logs requests for patient transports and totals the number of trips at the end of each shift.
Provides on‑the‑job training to new employees as assigned.
Transports deceased patients to the morgue as assigned.
Assists with stocking and distribution of supplies and equipment when required.
Maintains a professional appearance by conforming to dress code.
Prepares stretchers for use by cleaning with the appropriate solution and placing clean linen on stretcher.
Keeps work station clean and orderly.
Follows and performs all related unit‑specific policies and procedures as detailed on the unit specific competency checklist.
Utilizes job and unit specific equipment as required.
Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Expertise).
Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Education High School diploma is strongly preferred.
Skill Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job-appropriate technology and software applications.
Credentials American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.

Working Conditions Physical Requirements:
Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers. Environmental Conditions:
Function in a fast‑paced environment with occasional high‑pressure or emergent situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies, and other members of the public. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment. May also be exposed to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases, X‑ray, chemical exposures, and other hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions.
