is seeking an

Environmental Operations Consultant

to support a client in San Bruno, California. In this role, assess a client's activities to determine their environmental impact, identify risks and potential contamination, and develop strategies to comply with regulations and promote sustainability. This is a full-time (40+ hours a week) limited-term role, with a duration of 12 months and the possibility of extension.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct regular Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan inspections and ensure compliance with applicable notification and reporting requirements.

Conduct monthly stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) inspections and ensure compliance with stormwater permitting requirements, which may include stormwater sampling during a precipitation event.

Support data management and reporting: collect, analyze, and report environmental data, ensuring accuracy and compliance (e.g., HMBP, Annual Waste Reports).

Be familiar with the facility’s SPCC, SWPPP, HWCP and HMBP to flag observed operational changes that may require a plan revision.

Manage and track universal and hazardous waste generated and accumulated at the facility, including the client’s eManifests and recordkeeping per federal and state regulations.

Inspect hazardous waste areas (satellite and 90-day CAA) and above ground storage tanks.

Assist with preparation of paperwork and sampling required to remove regulated waste from the facility, including waste profiles, manifests, and chains of custody.

Support existing file management systems on SharePoint for relevant analysis, plan updates, inspections, etc.

Program Management: support execution of environmental programs (waste minimization, recycling, circularity strategies) ensuring alignment with CA regulations and SFIA’s.

Escort vendors and contractors as needed.

Support on-site remediation, due diligence and construction efforts as needed.

Act as liaison among operating groups at the facility to maintain environmental compliance and facilitate sustainability initiatives and regulations.

Support other Environmental Affairs departments’ global environmental strategy, sustainability initiatives and reporting (data collection, decarbonization); monitor projects or events potentially impacting the facility, such as construction or remediation.

REQUIREMENTS

BS Degree in a chemical manufacturing, refinery or other related industrial environment is preferred.

Minimum of 4 years of facilities management, waste management, and environmental compliance experience.

Knowledge of federal and California environmental regulations (RCRA, SPCC, stormwater permitting).

Proficiency in environmental data management and reporting systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.

PAY TRANSPARENCY For the Environmental Operations Consultant position, the anticipated annual base pay is $72,608–$94,867 ($34.90–$45.60 per hour). This is a limited-term, non-exempt role. Pay within this range is based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, etc. The role may be eligible for bonus pay.
