We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records and reports. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contributes to the overall success of the organization. The role will be responsible for AP (30% of time), AR (40% of time), and general ledger accounting (30%).
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Assist with AP vendor creation, invoice entry, and payments.
Assist with AR account set up, credit limit management, credit hold release, collections, payment reconciliation, cash applications, and customer relationship management.
Reconcile bank statements, cash‑in‑transit, and credit card statements and prepare related journal entries on a frequent basis.
Assist with other month‑end close journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, as needed.
Assist with the preparation and payment of sales and use tax filings and reconciling related accounts.
Assist in preparing month‑end and year‑end financial statements and reports.
Assist with company credit card administration, expense coding, and auditing.
Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting‑related issues and provide support, as necessary.
Contribute to process improvements and initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance function.
Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices and recommend adjustments to policies and procedures as needed.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Assist with HR and benefits administration as a back‑up.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of work experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. NetSuite experience helpful but not required.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Customer service mentality (internal and external).
Experience in consumer goods, apparel, retail, or wholesale industry helpful but not required.
