Position Type: Adjunct (Part‑time / Temporary)

Major Responsibilities

Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.

Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.

Be available to students outside of class and fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time faculty member.

Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas and adhere to standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Create an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral or Master’s degree in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, American Indian Studies, the equivalent, or a Master’s in Ethnic Studies.

Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Desired Qualifications & Additional Requirements

California Community College Instructor Credential in Ethnic Studies (valid for life).

Foreign degree holders with coursework evaluated by a certified professional association (NACES or ACEI).

Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender‑identity, sexual‑orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.

Completion of a Request for Equivalency Form if the exact degree is not yet earned.

Conditions of Employment

Submit official transcripts and, if applicable, a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).

Obtain a Live Scan fingerprint clearance prior to the first day of employment.

Provide original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
