Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems (PE Required)

Compensation:
$180K-$215K + Bonus + Relocation Assistance Available
We are partnering with a respected engineering and advisory firm to appoint a
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to support major building systems work across commercial, mixed-use, institutional, and residential environments.
This is a leadership-oriented technical role focused on HVAC and building mechanical systems, combining design oversight, field involvement, and direct client interface.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design and system development for HVAC and ventilation projects
Produce and review plans, specifications, and technical documentation
Perform site evaluations and existing building assessments
Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and system improvement work
Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff
Contribute to proposals, scope development, and client engagement
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
12+ years of building mechanical/HVAC system design and delivery
Strong grasp of building codes, mechanical system fundamentals, and controls
Working knowledge of design/coordination software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, BIM platforms)
Strong communication and time-management skills
Ability to work on-site in NYC and conduct field assessments
