Job Summary and Responsibilities Uses machines that utilize strong magnets and radio waves, instead of radiation, to create body images. Trained as a radiology technologist who works in the imaging department and has specific training to perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures in the MRI department.

Position Summary Responsible for enforcing magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operators, and visitors. Monitors patients’ conditions before and after scans to ensure safety and comfort. Explains testing procedures to patients and instructs them on preparation for MRI tests. Maintains knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy, physiology, and MRI terminology, and is familiar with specific MRI coding systems. Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

Position Responsibilities

Enforce magnetic field safety for patients, operators, and visitors.

Monitor patient’s condition before and after scans to ensure safety and comfort.

Explain testing procedures to patients to ensure understanding.

Position and instruct patients on MRI preparation.

Maintain knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy, physiology, and MRI terminology.

Familiarize with specific MRI coding systems.

Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.

Prepare equipment to ensure it is operational, safe, and functions per diagnostic standards.

Problem‑solve equipment failures and imaging quality issues; contact service representatives and CES as needed.

Complete all quality checks and maintain equipment logs.

Complete clinical supply inventory to ensure each diagnostic room has required supplies.

Actively participate in patient exams, including routine, urgent, and emergent requests.

Assist patients with basic clinical care.

Assist with patient scheduling when required.

Provide patient orientation, preparation/history, and teaching before, during, and after exams.

Review physician orders to verify exam types and indications.

Select and adjust equipment settings for prescribed exams to ensure optimal image quality.

Conduct diagnostic exams according to departmental protocols.

Seek assistance for procedures that cannot be completed or for any patient care issues.

Ensure exam completion, documentation, patient charges, and safe discharge.

Complete image processing, PACS QA, and document logs, demographics, and diagnostic information as required.

Job Requirements Minimum Requirements Education and Licensure

High School Diploma (required)

Associate’s Degree in Healthcare field or Imaging Studies (preferred)

Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R) at time of hire, then maintained as current (required)

ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) certification or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (MR) at time of hire or within 9 months, then maintained as current (required)

Certified by the state of Texas – MRT within 9 months of hire/transfer (required)

BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (required)

Minimum Experience

Previous MRI experience preferred

Position eligible for a $10K sign‑on bonus (terms and conditions apply)

Pay Range $34.00 - $50.58 /hour
