MRI Technologist – CommonSpirit Health

Job Summary:
Uses machines that utilize strong magnets and radio waves, instead of radiation, to create body images. Trained as a radiology technologist who works in the imaging department and has specific training to perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures in the MRI department.
Responsibilities
Enforce magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operators, and visitors.
Monitor patients’ condition before and after scans.
Explain testing procedures to patients.
Position and instruct patients for MRI preparation.
Apply knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and MRI terminology.
Be familiar with specific MRI coding systems.
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
Prepare equipment to ensure it is operational, safe, and functioning per diagnostic standards.
Problem‑solve equipment failures and imaging quality issues, and contact service representatives as needed.
Complete all quality checks and ensure equipment logs are maintained.
Maintain clinical supply inventory for diagnostic rooms.
Participate actively in patient exams, performing routine, urgent, and emergent requests.
Assist patients with basic clinical care.
Assist with patient scheduling when required.
Provide patient orientation and education before, during, and after exams.
Review physician orders to confirm exam types and indications.
Select and modify equipment settings to achieve optimal image quality.
Conduct diagnostic exams according to departmental protocols.
Seek assistance if procedures cannot be completed or if patient care issues arise.
Complete patient visits, ensuring documentation, charges, and discharge are processed.
Perform image processing, PACS QA, and documentation of logs and diagnostic information.
Execute all image post‑processing.
Requirements Education and Licensure
High School Diploma (required)
Associate’s Degree in Healthcare field or Imaging Studies (preferred)
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R) at time of hire, then maintain as current (required)
ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) certification or ARRT (MR) within 9 months of hire/transfer (required)
Certified by the state of Texas – MRT within 9 months of hire/transfer (required)
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (required)
Minimum Experience
Previous MRI experience preferred
Position eligible for $10K sign‑on bonus (terms and conditions apply)
