Job Summary Under supervision of the Practice Supervisor/Manager and in collaboration with Clinical Nursing Staff, the Medical Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients in the Rheumatology/Arthritis, Scleroderma & Nephrology ambulatory group practice. Work includes a variety of personal care and clinical procedures, data collection, laboratory procedures, adherence to standards, and mentoring of staff.

Responsibilities

Assist in the delivery of care to patients in Rheumatology/Arthritis, Scleroderma & Nephrology ambulatory group practice.

Perform assigned patient care and review of systems data collection in support of specialty care services.

Perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of specialty care services.

Adhere to the Telephone and House Standards adopted by the Medical Center.

Mentor staff to promote development of skills.

Required Qualifications

Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent training and experience.

Knowledge and abilities essential to successful performance of duties.

Familiarity with insurance and prior authorizations.

Experience with analyzing quality improvement data and metrics.

Past coordination of procedures.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an outpatient practice in a clinical or administrative capacity handling rheumatology and nephrology medications and infusions.

Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR – specifically Epic or APeX.

Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.

Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office.

Ability to prioritize work efficiently.

Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills.

Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to multi‑task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice.

Familiarity with different insurances and resources for patient medication and prior authorizations.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in Cantonese or Spanish (preferred).

Bachelor’s degree in health or behavioral science.

Experience with insurance verification.

License / Certification Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.

Employment Details

Location: San Francisco, CA (Parnassus Heights). Full On‑Site.

Shift: Days – 8 Hours (Monday‑Friday).

Salary range: $32.86 – $41.01 hourly.
