Description Position: Director – Healthcare Industry Group
The Team The Healthcare Industry Group, a subsidiary of A&M, is at the forefront of delivering transformational change to the healthcare industry. The practice advises healthcare executives, boards, private‑equity firms, investors, law firms and government agencies on financial and operational performance improvement, strategic growth and unlocking value across the investment lifecycle. The team provides expertise in interim management, restructuring, revenue cycle management, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and regulatory, digital technology and analytics.
You will have the opportunity to work with clients in a variety of sectors including health systems and providers, physician groups, ancillary providers, medical schools, vision, laboratory, dental and behavioral health; managed care and health plans; government plans and programs; healthcare investors and lenders; medical devices; healthcare suppliers and infrastructure; and life sciences.
HIG’s Healthcare Services practice (HCS), with offices throughout the U.S., focuses on serving private‑equity firm portfolio companies and public and private healthcare companies. HCS services include performance improvement/operational turnarounds, cost optimization, M&A services, finance operations and interim management (including CFO services).
Technology Assessment – Review and analysis of platform, data and system architectures, and related applications / products, integrations, infrastructure, processes, data governance, security, IT teams for scale, capability, cost, resilience and value opportunities.
Performance Improvement/Operational Turnaround – Identify and address key performance impediments quickly and effectively through advisory or interim management roles.
Cost Optimization – Holistic, cross‑functional program to accelerate EBITDA and cash‑flow improvements across the entire cost structure.
M&A Services – Support companies throughout the M&A lifecycle, including due diligence, integration planning and execution, and divestiture and carve‑out planning.
Finance Operations – Drive improvements to client finance operations, including management reporting and month‑end close process optimization.
Interim Management – Step into CEO, COO, CFO or CIO roles to drive change while a full‑time replacement is being recruited.
How You Will Contribute As a Director you will work closely with healthcare clients on complex assignments that demand critical technology considerations. You will use independent judgment and critical thinking to gather data, design practical solutions and drive financial and operational improvements that add value based on client needs. Typical responsibilities include:
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost structure by redesigning technology and operations org structures, eliminating application or IT vendor redundancies and streamlining non‑value‑added processes.
Optimize overall technology stack (systems, products, processes, data, security, teams) to improve top‑line and bottom‑line performance.
Develop IT synergy models, one‑time cost profiles, TSA and carve‑out considerations pre‑deal and execute integrations and exits post‑deal.
Guide clients through crisis and short‑term solutions, structuring and executing performance improvement plans.
Perform operational data analysis, develop KPI metrics and conduct client interviews to evaluate operations.
Summarize and translate large data sets into actionable recommendations.
Lead project workstreams, managing day‑to‑day engagement priorities with senior‑leader guidance.
Prepare client‑ready deliverables, presentations and make client presentations.
Coach and mentor junior staff.
Build client relationships and identify opportunities to expand business scope.
Support marketing initiatives, assisting with pitch preparation and marketing material creation.
Help build product and service offerings and templates.
Qualifications We are seeking an entrepreneurially collaborative individual who thrives in ambiguity and fast pace. Desired qualifications include:
High energy, passion for healthcare and solving complex issues.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in healthcare, consulting or related industry such as healthcare banking, accounting, audit, private equity or healthcare operations with a healthcare IT focus.
Experience in acquisition, integration and transformation from an IT deal perspective.
Experience in clinical application domains (e.g., EMR/EHR, Practice Management).
Experience in med‑tech manufacturing applications (e.g., MES, QMS, Inventory Management).
Experience in corporate functional domains (HRIS, ERP/Finance, Cloud Stack).
Advanced analytics and reporting skills.
Advanced Excel proficiency and financial modeling skills.
Microsoft PowerPoint, and familiarity with Visio, Tableau or Power BI, SQL or SPSS a plus.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Deep knowledge of healthcare finance, operations and regulations.
Effective judgment, escalation capability, coaching, and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel as required.
BA/BS degree and/or MBA/MS in Accounting, Finance or related healthcare fields such as MHA or MPH.
