Director of Attorney Recruiting Job Details: Snell & Wilmer L.L.P. is one of the largest law firms in the Western United States with 500+ attorneys throughout seventeen offices. The firm has been experiencing growth and is creating this new Director of Attorney Recruiting role to enhance and lead its attorney recruitment initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Talent Officer, the Director of Attorney Recruiting will oversee the full cycle of attorney recruitment for both law student and lateral attorney positions. The Director will lead a team of recruiting talent professionals, working closely with Executive Leadership, Practice Group Leaders, and hiring committees to develop and implement recruiting strategies aligned with the firm’s growth and talent objectives.

We are open to candidates based in any of the firm’s office locations. Position responsibilities, experience, and qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

Attorney Recruiting Leadership:

Lead and manage recruiting managers and their teams, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

Develop and implement strategic recruiting initiatives for law student and lateral attorney hiring.

Identify lateral hiring needs in collaboration with firm leadership and design strategies to attract high-caliber talent.

Partner with the marketing team to promote the firm’s brand and highlight new hires.

Develop and maintain relationships with law school career services, professional recruiters, and relevant legal networks.

Track and analyze recruiting metrics, such as time-to-fill, retention ratios, to continuously improve recruiting effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with professional recruiting standards and firm policies.

Mentor, guide, and evaluate recruiting managers to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.

Provide guidance in coordination with the CTO on recruiting budget allocations.

Create processes to incorporate market landscape intelligence into recruitment strategies by creating and reviewing competitive market data, market mapping reports, hiring trends, and internal research; educate CTO and other leadership in the firm on trends and influence hiring plans.

Drive continuous improvement in recruiting processes and workflows.

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.

At least 10 years of attorney recruiting experience, preferably within law firms and with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.

Proven track record of successfully recruiting and retaining top attorney talent.

Strong experience managing recruiting managers or equivalent teams.

Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate equally well with senior administrative managers and staff, partners, and associates across the firm.

Strong understanding of law firm hiring practices, market trends, and professional standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Experience in working with attorney recruiting databases required.

Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.

Executive presence, professionalism, and the ability to foster trust with candidates, partners, associates, and staff.

The Director of Attorney Recruiting role offers a salary range of $150,000.00 to $200,000.00. Compensation will vary based on the selected candidate’s experience, qualifications, and work location.
