About the Role LHH is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic nonprofit organization on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Paylocity, multi‑state payroll processing, and a strong understanding of compliance requirements. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work collaboratively across HR, Finance, and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Process bi‑weekly payroll for multi‑state employees, including hourly and exempt staff
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Handle payroll adjustments, garnishments, and resolve pay discrepancies promptly
Conduct regular audits of payroll data and assist with ACA reporting and EEOC filings
Enter and extract data from HR systems for reporting and compliance purposes
Collaborate with HR and Finance on payroll‑related expenses and reconciliations
Provide excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries
Qualifications
Experience with Paylocity required
Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll regulations and wage/hour laws
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS applications
Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and able to manage confidential information
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
