is seeking a

Simulation Software Engineering Team Lead

to join our diverse and large team supporting the simulation and analysis of missile defense ground‑based radars.

The applicant will join a group of highly technical engineers and analysts supporting the development of a real‑time radar simulation product that is used for warfighter training and certifications, integrated missile defense exercises, and system testing and development of tactical command and control algorithms. The applicant will be able to work with and mentor both junior and senior level software developers as well as collaborating with systems and radar engineers.

Primary Responsibilities

Function as a team lead for an established team of software developers and interface daily with a diverse team of software developers, systems and radar engineers.

Update and modernize an existing simulation model framework and set of radar models to incorporate updates to the simulation in line with tactical system capabilities.

Position does not allow hybrid or remote work due to the nature of the system being simulated.

Work daily on‑site at customer facilities on a multi‑contractor team and interact regularly with industry partners and the government customer; represent Leidos technically, professionally, and ethically.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, or a related STEM discipline, and a minimum of 12–15 years of experience in computer science or software development.

Advanced degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering disciplines are also strongly encouraged and may be considered in lieu of experience.

Significant proficiency with the software languages C/C++ and Java, which are the primary languages used.

Significant experience with issue tracking tools and Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines.

Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.

Must possess and be able to maintain a SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly organized, can clearly detail and document tasking to the team.

Experience with the GitLab environment and CI pipelines.

Integrated system simulation software experience.

Experience in high‑performance multithreaded software.

Experience in modeling & simulation software.

Pay Range $126,100.00 – $227,950.00
