KPMG provides audit, tax and advisory services for organizations in the most important industries.
We are seeking a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Lead Audit Counsel to join our Office of the General Counsel.
Responsibilities
Serve as a primary OGC contact for leadership of the Audit and Assurance Practice on legal and regulatory matters relating to the provision of professional services; advise the other two professional service functions of KPMG (Tax and Advisory) regarding similar matters as needed, including the resolution of potential disputes.
Organize the work of the Practice Advisory Group to support the Audit and Assurance Practice.
Stay current on legal and regulatory developments impacting the audit profession and advise the Audit and Assurance Practice accordingly.
Support the development of comment letters and guidance for the Audit and Assurance Practice.
Qualifications
Minimum 15 years of experience in well-regarded law firm(s), government agencies, or in‑house legal department; JD or LLM from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S., including the state where the office is located.
Deep experience with civil litigation and regulatory investigations related to audits of public and private companies and advising and counseling the profession on legal and regulatory matters, including through the provision of training; knowledge of securities laws, rules and regulations, including those that relate to the audit profession.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines with consistently high‑quality deliverables, and exhibit strategic thinking in sensitive and complex situations with the highest ethical standards.
Demonstrated collaboration skills, including building strong business partnerships, working within cross‑functional teams; client‑service orientation with the ability to create effective working relationships.
Leadership skills and ability to navigate ambiguity, influence stakeholders, and manage relationships with senior leaders and team members.
Proactive in identifying potential challenges, opportunities for enhancement and innovation, including by leveraging technology.

Compensation California Salary Range: $402,000 - $880,000.
