Under the direction and consultation of the LOA Centralized Services leadership, the incumbent will review, triage, determine eligibility, and answer general questions for all leaves of absence (FML/MLOA/CFRA/Personal/WC/Light Duty/Military and any and all leaves in the Collective Bargaining Agreements and UC Policy PPSM 2.210). This position serves as the initial point of contact for the unit and assists with data collection and support for collective bargaining units such as CNA, UPTE, AFSCME, CUE, etc. The role requires a high degree of confidentiality and organization, analytical abilities, and strong customer service skills. The incumbent must maintain composure under stress and interact professionally with employees at all levels, including C‑Suite executives, within the UC Davis Health System.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Experience managing a high volume and wide variety of case work in a timely and accurate manner.

General understanding of federal and state laws regarding FML/CFRA, leaves in the Collective Bargaining Agreements, and leaves covered under UC Policy PPSM 2.210.

Intermediate knowledge and experience applying FMLA/CFRA/PDL entitlements.

Skills to research, collect, analyze, and interpret data from a variety of sources, and utilize problem‑solving skills to define problems and implement solutions.

Skills to maintain confidentiality; to use excellent judgment in determining whether materials are sensitive and/or confidential and to handle with appropriate discretion.

Demonstrated computer‑related skills to utilize various software programs including Aggie Service, downloading, time and attendance systems, leave processing systems, Adobe/PDF, MS Office.

Demonstrated excellent customer service and professionalism, including the ability to handle difficult, sensitive, and confidential matters.

Strong communication skills to advise, communicate, and present information clearly and concisely with all levels of staff in order to secure understanding and cooperation.

Experience working independently and as a team; quickly, accurately, and efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload as it changes daily and complete projects according to time frame.

Skills and understanding to interpret standards; assess situation and determine appropriate course of action.

Understanding of the basic functions and use of the Ecotime time and attendance system, Ecotime FML module. Skills and ability to create and distribute reports.

Writing and editing skills to clearly communicate objectives in correspondence, reports, etc.

Interpersonal skills to act as liaison to maintain cooperation and harmony between departments, units and work as a team member.

Strong communication, customer service and conflict resolution skills.

Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Highly organized, skilled in time management and setting priorities.

Skill and sensitivity in dealing with difficult and complicated issues.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Ability to learn and use case management system and leave tracking tools.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to UC Davis Health privacy practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a large academic or non‑profit medical setting.

Knowledge of UC policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements.

Knowledge of UC and UCDH policies and procedures, as well as The Joint Commission, applicable regulations and standards as required.

Understanding the basic functions of UC Path including request extended absence module, administer extended absence module, job data screen, person organization summary, and benefit summary.
