Job Description Summary Systems Engineering is a cross‑functional discipline that focuses on an integrated approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider both business and technical needs to deliver quality products that meet user requirements. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, including requirement definition, alternate design concepts, trade studies, selection, implementation, and verification of integration and execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible for Mechanical Nuclear Island Systems (MNI) engineering activities supporting the BWRX‑300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design.

Primary focus areas: overall ownership of mechanical design for the Nuclear Boiler (B21), Isolation Condenser (E52) and Fine Motion Control Rod Drive (G12) Systems—including DNNP‑1 specific design and future iterations; construction support of the DNNP‑1 SMR currently under construction by OPG; procurement support for assigned systems.

Conduct component and product integration, and manage product and system requirements, specifications, and flow‑down.

Drive validation and verification activities, including system‑level testing.

Define product requirements for modules, components, and subcontractors/partner teams.

Manage interface between components and execution organizations.

Drive CTQ/Risk trades and overall product configuration control.

Broaden knowledge of the technical discipline to execute policy/strategy; acquire higher‑level skills when needed.

Maintain a basic understanding of key business drivers and integrate team work with other functions.

Make autonomous decisions within a defined framework and consult seniors for issues beyond established procedures.

Possess good interpersonal skills; may lead a junior team. For customer‑facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and serve as interface between customer and GE.

Required Qualifications

Canada: 8 years of engineering or technology & systems engineering experience in the nuclear industry; comparable to a Master’s degree or high‑school diploma with relevant experience.

Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario (P.eng).

USA: Master’s degree from an accredited university or college (or high‑school diploma/GED with at least 8 years of BWR nuclear experience).

Eligibility Requirements USA: Strong preference for candidates who can relocate to Wilmington, NC.

Compensation US: Pay range $111,200.00 – $185,400.00; discretionary annual bonus; geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130%. Salary may vary based on experience, education, and skill set.
