The Role CCR is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Grid Integration team to support the development and execution of solar and storage projects in regulated markets in SPP and WECC, as well as support large load customer interconnection process requests across the country. The role will enhance CCR’s greenfield development and M&A efforts by supporting all aspects of interconnection from pre-application diligence through to commercial operation. The Senior Associate will be responsible for tracking regulatory and market rule changes, conducting interconnection risk assessments, and collaborating across internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Manage generator interconnection requests and support projects through study phases in SPP and WECC

Support Interconnection Agreement (IA) negotiations, review IA milestones, and coordinate with internal teams across development, engineering, and legal

Review Resource Solicitation Cluster Study (RSCS) reports to identify interconnection costs, network upgrades, contingent facilities, and potential affected systems

Maintain internal tracking of IA milestones, including interconnection costs, utility upgrade scopes, and financial security requirements

Review interconnection request submissions and associated financial models to ensure data accuracy and consistency

Monitor regulatory updates, stakeholder proceedings, and transmission planning activities

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely, cost-effective, and technically sound project interconnections.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related technical field

3+ years of experience managing interconnection requests and study processes at an infrastructure developer, electric utility, transmission provider, or energy consulting firm, preferably in the Southeast

Direct experience with regulated utility interconnection processes in SPP

Familiarity with Interconnection Agreements

Strong understanding of OATT, transmission system planning, interconnection queue management, and regulatory frameworks such as FERC LGIP

Excellent analytical, research, and written communication skills

Ability to interpret interconnection study results and identify associated risks for non-technical internal teams

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive, solutions-driven approach

Effective collaborator with the ability to work cross-functionally across technical and commercial teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with large load interconnection processes

Familiarity with geospatial and grid analytics tools (e.g., ArcGIS)

Familiarity with the design, interconnection, and operational considerations of utility-scale BESS and solar PV systems

Previous participation in stakeholder engagement or state-level interconnection reform efforts

Location The preferred location for this role is one of our office locations: Asheville, NC, Durham, NC, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Washington DC. Our team operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office schedule of three days per week. For qualified candidates outside of these locations, we are open to hiring remote in the US.

Compensation The salary range for the position is $150,000-170,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
