Instructor/Program Director, Cardiovascular Sonography
This position is responsible for coordinating all instructional and academic activities within the department, and supervising curriculum and continuing education course development. The Cardiovascular Sonography Program director is also responsible for providing direct supervision of cardiovascular sonography faculty and providing effective instruction of the Cardiovascular Sonography curriculum at a reduced course load.

Maintains the structure as well as the daily operation of the program, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula
Develops educational programs to achieve the institution's objectives and to meet the standards established by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in Cardiovascular Sonography
Assists with the ordering, distribution, storage, and management of supplies and equipment for sonography lab(s); confers with instructors to determine supply and equipment needs
Assists Department Head with updates of affiliation agreements and processes to ensure all students and faculty meet credentialing requirements for each agency assigned
Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
Performs course documentation duties for those courses assigned
Organizes and maintains laboratory and clinical areas, including physical facilities, equipment
and materials in a clean, neat, operating condition.
Maintains accurate scholastic records of students enrolled in classes and submits required reports to the Department Head and to the registrar
Collaborates with the Imaging Department Head in developing curriculum schedule for the Cardiovascular Sonography program.
Collaborates with the Department Head, student services staff and faculty to develop and implement admission standards for Cardiovascular sonography students
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction to maintain currency and rigor and to fully implement and evaluate student learning outcomes and overall program outcomes
Devises and directs maintenance of a record system of clinical experience, exits and re-entries, grades, and general background information for each student
Makes budget recommendations
Plans and conducts monthly program meetings as needed
Supervises and evaluates assigned staff and faculty
Advises and counsels Cardiovascular Sonography program students; evaluates course substitutions
Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
Recommends Sonography personnel, supplies and equipment to Imaging Department Head as needed
Assists Department Head in hiring Sonography faculty as assigned
Schedules, posts, and maintains regular office hours for consultation with students
Perform duties incidental to institutional public relations, student registration, recruiting, advising prospective students, and other functions of the College
Maintains contact with area healthcare centers and assists in the placement of graduates
Serves as member of faculty or advisory committees to which assigned
Reviews and recommends additions to library holdings, textbooks and audio‑visual or other teaching aids
Participates in continuing professional education and community activities related to Sonography
Participates in ongoing curriculum evaluation and recommends curriculum changes as appropriate to changing needs of the program
Provides regular and timely feedback to students regarding academic progress
Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures and student progress
Maintains confidentiality of student records and grades
Completes orientation of students entering the sonography program
Participates in graduation exercises

Ability to design curriculum, administer programs, conduct evaluations, provide instruction, and engage in academic advising
Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision

Ability to meet clinical agency requirements including CPR certifications and proof of immunizations
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Unrestricted license credentialed in Cardiac Sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.

Have documented experience in instruction, evaluation and student guidance (can be accomplished by precepting students at a clinical site)
Have documented experience in educational theories and techniques. (per CAAHEP, documentation of experience in educational theories and techniques may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques)
