We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable
Project Accountant
to support all financial aspects of our construction projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include:
Maintaining accurate project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking
Monitoring job costs, analyzing variances, and preparing WIP reports
Supporting project managers with financial insights and budget-to-actual reporting
Coding, entering, and processing vendor invoices for each project
Verifying subcontractor and vendor billing accuracy, including lien releases and compliance documents
Tracking subcontract agreements, change orders, insurance certificates, and expiration dates
Preparing and submitting customer billings, payment applications, and AIA documentation
Tracking accounts receivable, retention/retainage, and following up on outstanding payments
Coding labor hours to correct cost codes and reviewing timesheets for accuracy
Assisting with certified payroll reports when required
Maintaining cost codes and job cost structures for each project
Tracking materials, equipment, labor, subcontractors, and overhead allocations
Preparing detailed job cost reports for management
Posting journal entries and maintaining accurate project-related general ledger records
Reconciling project accounts, including AP, AR, retainage, and job cost accounts
Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Tracking project contracts, change orders, and ensuring financial impacts are updated in the system
Maintaining organized digital and physical project files and supporting audits as needed
Qualifications:
3+ years of accounting experience (construction required)
Experience with job costing and project-based accounting
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar
Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze financial data
Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
