The Senior Director, Tax Operations is a strategic leader responsible for all aspects of the tax function for Inspira Financial, including data governance, regulatory compliance, reporting, and operational excellence.
Job Summary & Responsibilities Reporting to the Managing Director of Shared Services, this role plays a critical part in shaping and executing the firm’s operations tax strategy to ensure full alignment with evolving regulatory requirements. The Senior Director leads a high‑performing team and collaborates cross‑functionally with Finance, Legal, Technology, and external stakeholders to drive innovation, enhance automation, and ensure enterprise‑wide tax compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Establish and maintain a robust tax governance framework with effective internal controls, ensuring accurate data and reporting across operational processes.
Lead enterprise-wide tax risk assessments and scenario planning to anticipate regulatory changes and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant data transmissions to global tax authorities.
Collaborate with senior leaders across Finance, Legal, Operations, and Technology to align tax strategy with business objectives, ensuring proactive compliance and value creation through integrated planning.
Identify and mitigate tax risks through proactive review and planning to ensure timely and compliant data transmissions to tax authorities.
Responsible for accurate preparation of tax communications, including annual tax forms.
Ensure the accuracy and strategic positioning of all tax-related communications, including annual tax forms and executive‑level reporting, aligning messaging with corporate governance standards.
Deliver immediate tax compliance and reporting objectives while developing and executing long‑term strategies that support sustainable growth and operational scalability.
Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and proactively engage with internal stakeholders to assess impacts.
Responsible for all internal coordination related to peak tax season including annual planning and preparation, coordinating across multiple functions to ensure success and business readiness, and execution to plan.
Ensure achievement of short‑term objectives while implementing strategies to achieve long‑term goals to support continuous growth.
Drive automation and champion the adoption of advanced technologies to improve tax data management, reporting accuracy, and compliance efficiency, positioning tax as a strategic enabler of business agility.
Influence company business development strategy by partnering directly with Service Delivery teams, vendors, vendor management, product, development, and infrastructure.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Build, lead, and develop a high performing team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and teamwork.
Provide strategic direction and leadership to team members, fostering a positive and inclusive corporate culture.
Manage the full lifecycle of talent acquisition, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.
Oversee daily departmental operations, ensuring efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
Deliver timely and constructive performance feedback, supporting employee development, succession, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of leadership experience, including 5+ years overseeing tax processes.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, tax, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to establish, develop and lead a multi-level functional team of experienced professionals.
Strong technical knowledge of tax authority regulations.
Experience with retirement, wealth management, banking, or health care taxation.
Ability to develop and leverage operational metrics to inform strategic decisions and drive execution.
Experience in producing and executing 1–3 year strategic plans focused on operational transformation.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and facilitation.
