Job Description Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your love of data and participate in implementing a high visibility/high reward statewide initiative? If so, join us as the data architect of Colorado’s State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). This data system will combine data from agencies that oversee Early Childhood, K12 Education, Higher Education, and Labor and Employment to evaluate outcomes of educational and workforce programs.

Responsibilities

Consult as a resource on data strategy and architecture to OIT and agency partners; advise in strategic direction, remove roadblocks, and ensure alignment with executive expectations.

Drive innovations, collaborations, and insights establishing a strong data‑driven approach to decision‑making across the organization.

Provide technology expertise by architecting, prototyping, researching, recommending, documenting, and assisting in implementing and evaluating technical solutions for business issues.

Assess new data initiatives for compliance with architecture, information security, and data standards; coordinate review processes with project planners.

Interface with vendor technology/solutions and involve OIT architecture throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of data architecture, data management, and information classification experience at the enterprise level.

Experience designing solutions in modern data technology platforms including Cloud (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Spark).

Experience developing and operationalizing architectural and data designs.

Experience with data governance tools to identify, monitor, and rectify data quality concerns.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with education data.

Experience with Informatica and Snowflake.

Experience in data modeling, data security, data quality, data warehousing, business intelligence, document & content management, metadata, reference & master data, data governance, and API‑led connectivity.

Experience in local, state or federal government.

Conditions of Employment

Compliance with screening procedures and pre‑employment background check.

Pre‑employment drug test for certain agencies.

May require travel within the specified geographic area and across the state.

Remote Work Requirements Periodic reporting to the primary state work location is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado. Candidates must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of employment.
