We invite an executive passionate about innovation, a technology strategist with a proven track record of transforming organizations, and a leader who knows emerging and existing technologies to solve real world challenges. You will be responsible for establishing the technological vision and ensuring alignment with the state’s business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Define the services offered by OIT and determine how they are provided: owned, provided, or guided.
Provide deep technical expertise aligned with agency strategic objectives.
Implement a lifecycle‑management approach to all IT assets, improving the state’s technology balance sheet.
Oversee technology services, product analysis and software architecture activities, influencing statewide IT policies and future projects.
Drive IT innovation across the state, including standards for application development, software, hardware, data and networking technologies.
Set technology standards across all government agencies, covering applications and enterprise architecture.
Supervise the technology architecture and support/development of more than 1,000 state‑wide applications.
Motivate cross‑functional teams to deliver complex projects with an agile mindset.
Foster inclusive leadership, engage in training, and actively develop others.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience leading operations in at least two of the following functions: Network Services, Technology Operations, Applications Development, Service Delivery, Technology Strategy, Customer Relationship Management, or comparable.
At least 7 consecutive years of experience managing staff in a large, matrixed environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Public sector experience.
Prior technical executive leadership experience.
Relevant certifications (ITIL, PMP, Change Management, ScrumMaster, etc).
Proven success executing tactical and strategic goals across broad IT and business stakeholders.
Conditions of Employment Remote work from anywhere in Colorado is allowed; periodic reporting to the primary state work location is required. The position may require travel within the state and on‑call duties. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Colorado if not already residing there.
Pay range: $150,000.00 – $180,000.00.
