Labor Relations Manager
Labor Relations Manager position with the California Department of Industrial Relations.
Pay Range Base pay range: $107,067.00 – $133,833.00. Actual pay depends on skills and experience.
Location & Work Schedule 2180 Harvard Street, Sacramento, CA 95815. This office will relocate in December 2025 to the renovated New Labor Agency Building at 1416 9th Street. The position offers a hybrid work schedule consistent with the department’s telework policy.
Overview The Labor Relations Manager demonstrates a positive, can‑do attitude and builds a team that provides superior customer service and meaningful impact. In this role you will drive strategies supporting employee relations and organizational excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of labor relations professionals.
Design and implement strategies that enhance employee relations and promote organizational effectiveness.
Provide advisory, coaching and consulting services to managers and supervisors on handling employee grievances and labor‐relations matters.
Lead the organization through difficult labor relations or collective bargaining situations, balancing organizational goals with employee concerns.
Qualifications
Experience advising, coaching and consulting managers on employee grievances and labor‑relations matters.
Demonstrated success in leading a team in implementing employee‑relations strategies, with measurable outcomes.
Proven ability to handle challenging labor‑relations or collective bargaining situations.
Eligibility: reachable on an employment list, transferable or reinstatement eligible, or in the process of obtaining list eligibility. Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification.
