Position Overview The Vice President of Construction will serve as the executive leader overseeing the full construction lifecycle for a diverse portfolio of multifamily, mixed-use, and urban development projects across the Greater Los Angeles market. This individual will be responsible for project delivery strategy, preconstruction oversight, team leadership, contract negotiations, risk management, and ensuring all projects meet the company’s quality, schedule, financial, and safety expectations.

This role is ideal for a proven construction executive with deep Los Angeles market experience, a strong understanding of entitlement-to-delivery cycles, and a track record of successfully delivering large-scale ground-up projects.

Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Strategy

Lead the construction department, overseeing all project teams, preconstruction, field operations, and third‑party GC relationships.

Develop and implement construction strategies aligned with corporate investment and development goals.

Represent the construction division in executive meetings, board updates, and capital partner presentations.

Provide market insights, cost escalation forecasting, and schedule risk assessments.

Project Delivery Oversight

Oversee all phases of construction from schematic design through closeout.

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to brand‑level quality standards.

Collaborate closely with Development, Design, Finance, and Asset Management teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Approve and manage master schedules, GMPs, buyout strategies, and contingency plans.

Lead negotiation of construction contracts, GMP agreements, and major subcontractor packages.

Oversee project budgets, monthly cost reports, value‑engineering efforts, and financial risk controls.

Work with Finance to support capital raises, investor reporting, and lender requisitions.

Qualifications

15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience, ideally with a developer or top‑tier GC.

Proven success delivering large‑scale multifamily, mixed‑use, podium, wrap, or high‑rise projects ($50M–$300M+).

Deep understanding of Los Angeles construction codes, permitting, union/non‑union trades, and market pricing.

Strong executive communication skills with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams and present to ownership groups.

Expertise in budgeting, contract negotiation, master scheduling, and risk management.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (MBA or MSCE preferred but not required).
