Legal Operations Manager – Law Firm Management This position will have responsibility for overseeing and managing the law firm management function of Truist’s Legal Department, optimizing and enhancing related processes, and ensuring compliance with Truist third‑party risk requirements. The role directs a team that onboards law firms, negotiates rates, manages the panel of preferred legal providers and vendors, oversees conflicts of interest, handles legal invoicing, and leads initiatives in cost containment, alternative fee arrangements, and law firm performance. The manager serves as the subject‑matter expert on Truist’s outside counsel policies and procedures, and is the primary point of contact for law firms and internal stakeholders.

The role is a regular full‑time position with 1st shift (United States) and has in‑office expectations. Truist will not sponsor work‑visa status or immigration support for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Use critical thinking, creativity, and operational excellence to implement or enhance processes and programs related to law firms and legal‑related vendors, including third‑party risk management.

Drive strategy for legal‑department policy and procedures for law‑firm and vendor onboarding, working closely with Truist Third‑Party Risk Management Office and Operations teams.

Manage law‑firm and vendor policy and procedure governance by leading compliance efforts.

Serve as primary contact and representative of the Legal Department with approved law firms.

Build and execute processes and programs for law‑firm panel management, conflicts of interests, legal fees processing, firm performance, volume discounts, alternative fee arrangements, and rate negotiations.

Develop strategies and processes to assess operational risks within the law‑firm management program and assist in overseeing mitigation efforts and management of issues to resolution.

Draft outside counsel guidelines and related policies/procedures.

Collaborate with Legal Department and functional area leaders across the enterprise to address legal counsel needs and onboard new law firms and vendors.

Stay abreast of industry trends related to law‑firm management operations.

Support and lead ad‑hoc projects related to law‑firm management operations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Strong technical understanding of legal operations.

5 or more years of professional experience in operations at a company, preferably within a legal department or law firm.

Able to embrace change.

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead work teams and projects.

Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.

Superb verbal and written communication skills, including writing and drafting skills.

Ability to work within a large organization and collaborate and partner with cross‑functional teams.

Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

Executive presence and ability to serve as a primary contact for the Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsels on areas of responsibility.

Ability to work independently, to successfully build and sustain operational programs.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

JD or MBA.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

Experience working in Legal Operations at a law firm or large financial services company.
