Senior Audit Accountant We’re looking for a motivated

Senior Audit Accountant

to join our team in Bethesda. This role is crucial for managing and executing audit engagements while collaborating directly with partners, managers, and clients. You’ll be directing a variety of complex accounting tasks, helping to shape audit strategy, and interpreting findings to deliver superior client service.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Engagements:

Work closely with the engagement partner/manager to develop the audit strategy, plan engagements, manage deadlines, and ensure quality service is delivered on time and within budget.

Technical Application:

Apply strong knowledge of auditing and accounting standards, including

GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, Uniform Guidance, and HUD rules , where applicable.

Client Insight:

Quickly understand client expectations, their business, industry, and internal control systems to identify best practices and areas for improvement.

Research & Analysis:

Research complex accounting topics using firm tools, draw clear conclusions, and apply industry trends to financial analytics.

Quality Assurance:

Execute the risk assessment process, write detailed documentation of findings, and exercise professional judgment in making sound recommendations to clients.

Team Collaboration:

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, while fostering an inclusive and professional demeanor at all times.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

A minimum of

two (2) years

of recent audit experience in a public accounting firm.

Certification:

Active

CPA license or CPA candidate

status.

Skills:

Proficiency with MS Office Suite; familiarity with professional engagement software (such as ProSystem FX Engagement) is a plus.

Attributes:

Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Frequent communication with colleagues and clients is required.

Availability to work moderate overtime throughout the year, with heavier requirements during peak seasons.

This role requires constant operation of a computer and remaining in a sedentary position for long periods, with the ability to move around the office as needed.

Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check following a conditional offer of employment.
