Position Overview The Assistant Hospitality Manager (AHM) will help to run the values‑driven employee food program that we have built by supporting the senior manager in overseeing the FoH team at our client location. It is a great job for someone who is organized, communicative, patient, and loves people. The AHM will lead efforts in constantly improving our food program, staying connected to the client community, and working with our program management team to implement changes and new systems. The AHM will be our lifeline to the program and eyes and ears to support the senior manager when they are not there. The AHM is responsible for assisting with recruiting stage shifts, training new hires, and leading the FoH team members at various client sites.
Description Additionally, the AHM supports the team and senior manager by working service as needed for coverage and to problem‑solve, trusting their gut instincts daily to ensure that all service is aligned with the company policies and standards of operation. This role will be based in SF primarily and require someone who is flexible and able to drive around to multiple accounts in the area as needed, so a license and reliable transportation are required. Starting in Oakland at times may be required to support with admin or pack‑outs, and cover other shifts when needed.

Ingredients are carefully selected from organic, local, independent farms—prioritizing purchasing from BIPOC and women‑owned purveyors. Prepared to satisfy refined palettes and a diverse range of dietary sensitivities and preferences, our nourishing meals aim to delight employees. Our Workplace business unit offers multiple food program solutions to meet our clients' needs.
Responsibilities
Support oversight of meals, snacks, drinks, and our delightful front‑of‑house team at client locations throughout the Bay Area.
Work closely with senior management to create a culture of hospitality through a sunny disposition and the Fare way.
Act as the main point of contact for employees and clients when the Senior Manager is not onsite or available.
Oversee meal service set‑up/breakdown, onsite food execution, food presentation, and transportation/delivery at multiple client accounts, including working service at accounts for call‑out coverage.
Problem‑solve any onsite issues with the front‑of‑house team while onsite at client communities.
Ensure proper recording of log data for client participation, leftovers, and waste for consumption management.
Oversee the recording of leftovers through proper heating, cooling in order to safely repurpose food or donate surplus to CBO partners.
Maintain and develop high standards for organization and cleanliness in the kitchen, storage, office, and dining room.
Manage and produce client‑facing menus and signage for all offerings, including verifying allergens and ingredients.
Engage, educate and develop relationships with our client communities.
Support opening and closing duties at HQ and client locations.
Continually work with us to develop and improve our food program, especially through tangible systems and processes.
Support training and development of all FoH team, staff on operational standards and procedures.
Support Senior Manager with recruiting process by conducting interviews and stages as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
3+ years experience in a professional hospitality environment with a passion for food & people.
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Be able to start in Oakland as needed, with a willingness to drive the company sprinter vans as needed.
Willing and available to work evenings when there are client events or new dinner programs.
Flexibility and willingness to work service at any client account to be where support is needed the most for the team, as necessary.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, communication & patience; fun to be around.
Basic culinary skills and techniques for finishing/plating.
Attendance and punctuality is required.
Ability to be a self‑sufficient problem solver and make sound decisions on‑the‑fly.
Strong understanding of professional catering service etiquette.
Good knowledge of local food products, producers and farms.
Hungry to grow within a startup.
Extremely organized and disciplined.
Big‑picture thinker with ability to multitask.
Basic computer skills (Docs, spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc.).
Manager‑level Food Handler Certification.
Schedule & Expectations Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with hours dependent on the service. You are responsible for managing your schedule based on your shift availability, with your supervisor.
Shift details Shifts generally start between 9 am to 10 am for working service; however, flexibility is needed for supporting client breakfasts that can start between 6 am and 7 am, or dinner services which would be 4 pm to 8 pm generally if applicable.
