MBTA
The Manager of Plans & Schedules will assist the Director with overseeing the design and preparation of all vehicles, operators, roster, and public schedules for Bus and Subway Operations necessary to meet the scheduling needs of the Authority.
Plan, organize, and monitor the design and preparation of seasonal timetables and operator schedules.
Assist in overseeing a department of approximately twenty (20) technical and administrative employees.
Organize and direct the preparation schedules for the initiation of new services, service adjustments, and substitute services such as bus or rail shuttles due to construction or maintenance work.
Oversee the development of in-house computer scheduling and reporting systems.
Participate in the development of service policies.
Coordinate Subway and Bus Transportation on service and staffing requirements for each rating.
Develop quarterly and annual projections of service requirements.
Configure software files to meet the scheduling needs of each quarter and manage the downstream schedule exports.
Participate in personnel selection committees for hiring and promoting personnel.
Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker, in a courteous and professional manner.
Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees.
Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable), and policies of the Authority, including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, and Anti-Retaliation policies.
The selected candidate will be expected to follow a hybrid work model that consists of both in-office and work from home days, with the likely expectation that (on average) 2-3days a week are spent in the office or some combination of in the office and in the field on an MBTA job site. This is subject to adjustment in the future.

Supervision
Supervise the scheduling staff.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, Public Administration, Business, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
Five (5) years of experience in transit service planning, scheduling, production, and/or database management.
One (1) year supervisory and/or lead experience.
The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience.
Effective organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, time management, and interpersonal skills.
The ability to use Word, Excel, databases, geographic information systems, and schedule software applications (such as HASTUS or Trapeze).
Handle sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.
Ability to supervise or work effectively with a diverse workforce.
Ability to uphold the rights and interests of the MBTA while building and maintaining effective relationships with employees and co-workers.
Successful applicants must have the English language skills required for the effective performance of the position.
