Position Summary Provide leadership and direction over financial reporting and planning. Develop and implement accounting policy and procedure.
Position Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university/college required. Master’s in business administration preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s):
CPA preferred.
Experience:
At least three (3) years of finance/accounting/auditing and business operation experience with a diverse knowledge of financial and business functions.
Minimum two (2) years of managerial/supervision experience, including hiring and firing.
Proficiency in computer software and computer operations as they relate to accounting functions.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost‑control principles, practices, and applications.
Skill in analyzing and evaluating accounting and internal control methods and financial reports.
Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
Knowledgeable in generally accepted accounting principles and government auditing standards.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the Not‑for‑Profit or Health Care industries (desirable).
Strong computer skills, including the use of general ledger, word processing, spreadsheet, and e‑mail software.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including preparation of meaningful narrative reports and proposals.
Ability to communicate with diverse groups, both inside and outside the agency.
Knowledge of and/or experience in Not‑for‑Profit regulations and accounting practices, including GAAS and Uniform Guidance under Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200 as well as Health Care Industry reporting practice and requirements.
Residency and Transportation Requirement:
Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.
Essential Functions
Responsible for overall maintenance and accuracy of the general ledger, including the review of original documentation for accuracy and integrity.
Manages and monitors daily cash transactions to ensure appropriate organizational cash flow, including determination of weekly check runs, funding of payroll, and collection of accounts receivables.
Manages and coordinates the activities of accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing, including the acquisition of bids from vendors and oversight of outside payroll service.
Assists IT with computer programs related to finance and accounting and ensures adequate employee training on those programs.
Handles banking, vendor, and employee relationships as they relate to daily operations.
Assists Affinia Healthcare employees with GL coding issues, accounting forms and procedures, payroll issues, and purchasing issues.
Monitors and maintains fixed asset system, including the supervision of the annual inventory.
Oversees monthly close of books and reporting process, including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
Oversees annual independent financial audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and analyses.
Handles periodic audits by granting agencies, workers compensation, and other required independent agencies.
Makes recommendations on investing excess cash within the parameters set by the finance committee.
Assists CFO in maintaining and implementing adequate internal controls.
Assists CFO in developing and implementing accounting policy and procedure.
Assists CFO in developing and monitoring organization budgets, including individual department budgets.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Functions
Participate in overall department planning.
Work with other departments in developing and implementing policy and procedure related to financial transactions.
Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises: Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant, Grant Reporting Specialist, Accounts Payable coordinator, Purchasing coordinator, Payroll and Benefits Director and Payroll coordinator.
