Zurich North America . Zurich North America is hiring an experienced UA Manager OR Sr. UA Manager, Zurich E&S to join our Casualty Wholesale team! This position will be located in our Atlanta, GA office. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your leadership and strategic thinking skills. There will be some travel for this position to offices where the UA Associates sit.
Responsibilities
Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals.
Assess and evaluate underwriting processes to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvements.
Follow up regularly with producers to discuss status of new business, upcoming renewals, and renewals in process, and develop appropriate action.
Perform customer service and account management responsibilities, resolving issues related to billing, making changes to policies, and answering policy coverage related questions.
Participate in key account business relationships in person or teleconference with Underwriters.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, ensuring staff meet performance standards based on key operational performance metrics, staffing models and growth goals, and conduct career development conversations with staff while creating robust development plans.
Make staffing decisions concerning hiring and guide staff development by identifying skills and training needs, delegating tasks appropriately, and motivating staff to provide outstanding client service.
Build insurance operations and underwriting skills and knowledge by participating in cross–training and learning additional processes and procedures to support multiple workflows and contribute to effectiveness of team operations.
Build strong relationships across the business. Take leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings.
Assist in onboarding and training new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters.
Act as subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance.
Basic Qualifications UA Manager, Zurich E&S
Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years' experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
Sr. UA Manager, Zurich E&S
Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge of operational budgets.
Advanced knowledge of Casualty lines of business.
Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
People management or supervisory experience.
Ability to manage and build rapport with team.
Advanced skills in problem solving, relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win‑win negotiation.
Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills.
Compensation & Benefits Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The combined salary range for this position is $74,300.00 – $161,000.00. The proposed salary range for the UA Manager is $74,300.00 – $121,700.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Sr. UA Manager is $98,300.00 – $161,000.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
