The Director of Project Management leads the strategic and operational execution of all company projects across manufacturing and equipment installation. This role oversees the Project Management Department, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with Evans Equipment & Environmental’s high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. While construction oversight primarily falls under the Construction Manager, the Director of Project Management collaborates closely with that department to ensure project alignment and seamless handoffs between fabrication, installation, and construction activities. The Director plays a pivotal role in scaling operational efficiency, developing PM talent, standardizing processes, and driving continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full lifecycle of all active projects across national accounts and regional builds — from order entry through final commissioning and closeout.
Develop and implement scalable project management processes, documentation standards, and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Manage and mentor a team of Project Managers and Coordinators, including recruitment and training.
Lead weekly PM and cross‑department meetings with Sales, Fabrication, Manufacturing, and Field Installation Services.
Project Oversight & Execution
Ensure consistent execution of project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Review and approve scopes of work, cost estimates, contracts, and change orders.
Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive communication and contingency planning.
Oversee logistics coordination for shipping, installation, and commissioning of equipment systems.
Track project profitability and departmental performance against monthly revenue and margin goals.
Collaborate with accounting to manage invoicing schedules, deposits, and payment milestones.
Support forecasting, backlog analysis, and workload planning across PM staff.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Sales, Construction, Fabrication, and Manufacturing to ensure accurate job handoffs and alignment on design intent.
Interface with customers and contractors to ensure clear expectations, progress transparency, and issue resolution.
Develop best practices for installation sequencing, client communication, and documentation control.
Implement project management software tools and dashboards to improve reporting and accountability.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
5–10+ years of progressive project management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or departmental leadership role.
Proven success managing complex, multi‑site industrial or environmental projects ($100K–$2M+ range).
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and civil construction principles.
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
