Assistant Vice President, Transportation Planning – Southern California WSP is seeking an experienced transportation planning leader to expand our practice in the Southern California market. The role is based in Los Angeles, San Diego, Irvine, Oakland, or San Francisco and partners with public agencies including Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Caltrain, Southern California Association of Governments, and local city agencies.

Job Summary This strategic position focuses on strengthening client relationships, driving new business, and delivering innovative transportation solutions to key public agencies throughout the state.

Responsibilities

Lead client engagement and business development for transportation planning services, including proposal development, pricing, and contract negotiation.

Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to deliver integrated transportation solutions across all end markets.

Represent WSP at industry events, conferences, and client forums to promote the firm’s expertise and expand market share.

Drive continuous process improvement, operational excellence, and innovative delivery practices to deliver high-quality outcomes on time and on budget.

Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications – Required

Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation planning within the A/E/C industry, including project delivery, business development, and client relationship management.

Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public Policy, or related discipline (Master’s Degree preferred).

Demonstrated leadership experience, strong business acumen, and a commitment to client service excellence.

Strong communication skills, ability to innovate, and a proven record of driving strategic growth.

Commitment to WSP’s Code of Conduct and relevant health, safety, and compliance policies.

Qualifications – Preferred

Professional licensing or certification relevant to transportation planning.

Experience with RFP/RFQ development and procurement processes.

Advanced knowledge of federal environmental regulations and policy impacts on transportation projects.

Compensation and Benefits Expected Salary (all locations): $99,100 - $176,550
