Swimming and Diving Head Coach (MS)

Location: Washington, D.C. campus (Seasonal, part-time)
Overview Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school, seeks a part-time seasonal Swimming & Diving Middle School Head Coach for the Washington, D.C. campus. The Head Coach reports to the Varsity Swimming & Diving Head Coach and Athletics Director and is responsible for initiating various aspects of the Swimming & Diving Program such as recruiting Sidwell athletes, scheduling opponents, training and coaching student‑athletes, selecting and evaluating seasonal assistant coaches, and participating in professional development and community programming.
Duties & Responsibilities
Represent Sidwell Friends and the Swimming & Diving Program professionally in all aspects, including recruitment, training, and coaching of student-athletes, while modeling nondiscriminatory practices.
Coordinate the development and promotion of the program, assess players’ skills, assign team positions, and determine game strategy based on team capabilities.
Organize and schedule practice sessions, directing individual and small group activities.
Plan, organize, and conduct a preseason meeting with all student-athletes and parents before the first official game.
Maintain and secure all equipment and uniforms.
Abide by SFS, Independent School League, Mid‑Atlantic Conference, and District of Columbia State Athletic Association rules.
Maintain a high standard of integrity that fosters the school’s Quaker values and supports the student’s academic experience.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
1‑3 years experience as an assistant or head Swimming & Diving coach at the middle and high school levels.
Demonstrate effective coaching skills and knowledge of rules, regulations, and strategies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
Availability to work nights and weekends.
As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will complete and clear a background and fingerprint screening before the first day of work. Upon hire, they will obtain CPR Certification, First Aid training, Bus training, and other requirements immediately.
Compensation
Stipend: $2,675.00–$3,852.00 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
