Director of Strategic Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
Office of the Commissioner – Bismarck, ND – Director of Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement. The Director serves as a key advisor and connector for the ND Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), advancing the state’s mission to be the healthiest in the nation through collaborative stakeholder and partner relationships across sectors.
As the Director of Strategic Partnerships, you will lead efforts to engage community partners, educational organizations, state agencies, local governments, tribal nations, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and the business community to promote integrated, people‑centered solutions. You will work closely with agency leadership to align stakeholder priorities with HHS initiatives, focusing on the health and well‑being of North Dakotans.
Your Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy aligned with the agency's strategic goals.
Facilitate cross‑sector dialogue and collaboration on complex social and public health challenges.
Partner with Division and Section Directors to coordinate community and stakeholder engagement efforts and ensure consistent messaging and follow‑through.
Advise internal teams on stakeholder interests, trends, and potential risks or opportunities.
Represent the agency in multi‑sector coalitions, task forces, advisory boards, and public forums.
Develop clear, compelling communication materials tailored to various stakeholder audiences.
To Be Successful in This Role Strategic and systems orientation, political acumen, situational awareness, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities. Excellent facilitation, negotiation, conflict‑resolution, and communication skills are essential, along with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining focus on HHS’ mission.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public health, social work, communications, or a related field.
Experience building strong relationships, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, public affairs, or related roles, preferably within the public or nonprofit sectors.
Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships across diverse sectors.
Experience working in or with government agencies, community‑based organizations, and/or healthcare systems.
Location : ND State Capitol, Bismarck, North Dakota.
