Base pay range:

$174,500.00/yr - $274,230.00/yr

About the Role The Area Sales Director plays a critical role in creating and executing business strategies across the Dermatology product portfolio aimed at exceeding sales expectations at a national level. As a second‑line leader, this position involves collaborating with and leading through District Managers to ensure area sales performance meets or surpasses company objectives.

The Area Sales Director is expected to take ownership and accountability for implementing company priorities, ultimately maximizing sales results. The role also involves building a new field sales organization for Dermatology, acting as a strategic thought partner throughout the brand planning process, and leading monthly and quarterly business reviews to identify opportunities and challenges across a large geographic area.

How you will contribute

Lead the development and execution of business strategies to deliver or exceed sales expectations at an Area and National level. Lead and motivate a team of sales leaders and sales professionals.

Effectively recruit, hire and coach a team of District Managers and support the recruitment of high‑performing sales professionals.

Develop an inspiring vision, create a high‑performance culture, eliminate barriers, and drive a solution‑oriented mindset.

Create a learning environment that fosters long‑term success, skill development and talent retention. Build ongoing development opportunities with Human Resources and Commercial Learning & Development.

Use consistent feedback and performance management to coach and develop talent.

Serve as a leader, coach and mentor across cross‑functional teams to foster career development.

Establish and foster relationships with industry professionals, key customers and accounts.

Manage the area budget, build business cases, and align with Sales and Marketing leadership.

Lead within a cross‑functional environment, cultivating teamwork with Marketing, Market Access, Analytics & Insights, Medical Leadership, and others.

Partner with Commercial Learning & Development for leadership, selling skills and clinical training.

Provide expertise on performance objectives and incentive compensation plans.

Advise Senior Leadership on geographic and national marketplace trends and competitive information.

Maintain a culture of ethical behavior and integrity across the sales organization.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree – BS/BA required.

10 years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 5 years of management level experience in relevant fields.

5+ years of people management with demonstrated success in achieving sales targets.

Preferred

2+ years of experience managing first‑line leaders.

Experience in dermatology.

Relevant clinical or cross‑functional experience in training, marketing, sales force effectiveness, or commercial operations.

Adept at leveraging emerging technologies and digital tools.

Licenses/Certifications

Valid Driver’s License.

Travel Requirements

Frequent ability to drive or fly to various meetings at customer sites, including overnight travel.

Ability to attend sales meetings at off‑site locations.
