IT Project Manager – Packaged Software Focus
Chicago, IL – 5 days onsite/week in the loop
Summary: The IT Project Manager will focus on managing Packaged Software application projects. We do not use a single ERP, but we do employ a lot of 3rd party packaged applications from various vendors. As such, you could be managing multiple application projects with multiple vendors simultaneously. The software applications could range from HCM, to Accounting software, to CRM, even some data‑focused projects.
The projects you'd be managing would touch several thousand end users spanning the U.S., Europe, and Asia Pacific. You will also manage projects as small as a one‑month quick feature implementation to a large vendor/application migration that could take several years.
We have a PMO of about 8 PMs and we're expanding our team due to the amount of projects we have on the horizon over the coming years.
Over time, you may get an opportunity to work on infrastructure or IT security focused projects as well. But we’re primarily looking for PMs who have an applications background.
What you'll be doing
Work with other Project Managers, IT team members, stakeholders, vendors, and other departments to ensure successful project delivery from project inception through closure.
Create various project documents, including project charters, project plans, status reports, project risk assessments, and project gating presentations. Work with the project team to ensure relevant project documentation is created.
Provide project gating presentations to the IT Directors during the various stage gates of their assigned projects.
Report on the project pipeline, budget run, risks, issues, and mitigation plans for assigned projects.
Resolve resource, timing, or other conflicts between projects.
Skills we're seeking
Must have a Bachelor's Degree OR PMP certification
Both would be preferred
4+ years of experience with IT Project Management
Must have experience managing packaged application-focused projects
Must have experience working in a PMO
Must be comfortable and interested in working in a Waterfall environment
Nice to haves
Master's Degree
Experience with IT Project Management in a professional services industry
Experience managing projects that have global reach
Experience using PM tools similar to what we use: Smartsheet, Asana, Planview, Microsoft Project, etc.
