Specializing in Wholesale, Retail, Manufacturing, Sales, Operations, Merchandising, Planning, Inventory, Purchasing, Buying, Marketing and Human… THIS ROLE IS BASED IN HOUSTON. Our client is a fast‑growing manufacturer serving both the contract (hospitality, student housing, corporate rental) and retail sectors.
Within the next 3-5 years, Our client is targeting over $50 million in annual revenue, with a path to $100 million by year seven. This client operates debt‑free, owns its manufacturing facility, and is backed by strong capital and operational infrastructure.

Role Summary The Director of Upholstery Operations will lead all aspects of upholstery production, driving excellence in quality, cost, and output. This position is central to building a high‑performance production environment aligned with aggressive growth goals and product excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
Direct all upholstery manufacturing activities to ensure the highest quality output at the lowest total cost.
Team Development:
Build and mentor a high‑performing operations team that thrives on quality, efficiency, and accountability.
Product Excellence:
Drive innovation in design aesthetics, functionality, and material efficiency to support product competitiveness.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Sales and Engineering teams to develop, launch, and scale new upholstered product.
Strategic Sourcing:
Collaborate with procurement to align supplier capabilities with production schedules and cost objectives.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead cost‑reduction and process‑improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles.
Problem Solving:
Serve as a proactive solution‑builder, engaging cross‑functional leaders to drive positive organizational change.
Culture & Leadership:
Foster a culture of open communication, mutual respect, and continuous feedback.
Technology Integration:
Leverage production and planning technologies (ERP/MRP, CAD/CAM, analytics tools) to improve efficiency, traceability, and decision‑making.
Candidate Requirements
Required Experience & Skills:
Minimum 7 years of upholstery production leadership.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence, lead, and inspire teams.
Results‑driven with a strong operations mindset.
Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, solutions‑oriented approach.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
Technology proficiency: Familiarity with manufacturing software systems (ERP, MRP), production analytics, and design tools (CAD) to support data‑driven operations.
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Houston, Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal training in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
Ideal Background / Target Companies This role is best suited for leaders from upholstery or furniture manufacturers with experience managing mid‑to‑large‑scale production teams, ideally in environments serving both contract and retail customers.
