Construction Assistant Project Manager
Location:
Onsite and in office (as project requires)
Company:
NOVA Construction Management
About NOVA Construction Management:
NOVA Construction Management is a high-performing, small general contractor specializing in industrial and commercial interior buildouts. With over 23 years of construction experience on the team, NOVA focuses on large-scale warehouse, cold storage, manufacturing, and office/retail tenant improvements—typically ranging from 50,000 to 800,000 SF and $1M to $20M in construction value. NOVA is especially notable in the industrial warehousing, cold storage, and manufacturing sectors across South Florida. NOVA operates differently from a typical GC, blending resourcefulness, creativity, and an understanding of ever-changing tenant requirements. Team members are exposed to most construction divisions within a project instead of being siloed, creating a fast‑paced, hands‑on learning environment. NOVA uses industry‑leading tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and modern digital bid platforms.
Position Overview The Construction Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, coordinating, and executing industrial and commercial interior buildouts. This role is ideal for someone who has grown beyond a Project Engineer position and is ready to own more responsibility in scheduling, cost tracking, subcontractor coordination, and client communication—while still having mentorship and support from senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager in managing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Help prepare and maintain project schedules, look‑ahead schedules, and logistics plans.
Draft, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change events, and change orders.
Support subcontractor buyout, scope reviews, and contract drafting.
Coordinate with superintendents to align field activities with schedule milestones and inspections.
Help prepare and review monthly pay applications, cost reports, and budget updates.
Maintain accurate project documentation in Procore, including drawings, logs, and correspondence.
Assist with OAC meeting preparation, meeting minutes, and follow‑up action items.
Support punch list management, closeout deliverables, and turnover to owners/tenants.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
Typically 2–5 years of commercial or industrial construction experience, ideally with prior Project Engineer or field coordination responsibilities.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
Experience with Procore (or similar), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills with a professional, team‑oriented attitude.
Comfortable being on active job sites and working closely with field staff, subs, and inspectors.
Benefits
Health, dental, and vision insurance options available.
Car allowance.
Phone allowance.
Direct mentorship from experienced Project Managers with a clear path to full PM responsibility.
Work Authorization & Location:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; NOVA is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this role. This is an on‑site, field‑based position. Candidates must already reside in the South Florida area and be able to reliably commute to job sites; relocation assistance is not available.
