Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III – New Glenn Stage 2 Apply for this role at

Blue Origin . The position supports development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle. You will design, fabricate, install, and test electrical harnesses for key spaceflight systems.

Responsibilities

Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high‑speed data signals.

Select harness components, hardware, connectors, backshells, cables, and wire.

Apply EMI/RFI analysis and harness shielding techniques.

Build 3D routed harness data files using Creo Pro/Engineer and Routed System Designer (RSD).

Create harness detail and installation drawings, including 2‑D flat harness drawings from the 3‑D datasets.

Design and integrate harness support brackets.

Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.

Assist the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.

Maintain and report on schedule and technical status.

Identify opportunities for improvement, cost and schedule savings.

Qualifications

B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or an applicable engineering field.

7+ years experience designing wire harnesses for the aerospace industry.

Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Routed System Designer (RSD).

Experience with wire derating analysis.

Knowledge of standards such as IPC/WHMA‑A‑620A and NASA‑STD‑8739.4.

Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD software.

Desired

Experience with Pro/Engineer Piping.

Experience with other high‑end CAD routing software (e.g., Unigraphics NX).

Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.

Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.

Compensation Range CO applicants: $116,323.00–$162,851.85. WA applicants: $126,898.00–$177,656.85. Other state ranges may differ.
