Job Description Altera is a global leader in FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) semiconductor solutions, enabling innovation in embedded computing and programmable logic. Our Finance team at Altera plays a critical role in shaping strategy, driving profitability, and supporting growth in a dynamic, high-tech environment.
Position Overview The R&D Financial Specialist will support R&D expense management, financial planning, forecasting, and analysis for Altera’s semiconductor business. This role partners with cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Product Management—to provide insights that influence strategic decisions and optimize financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Ownership & Reporting
Consolidate and report short- and long-term R&D results.
Analyze revenue, cost structure, margins, and profitability trends.
Support quarterly and annual financial close processes ensuring accuracy.
Forecasting & Budgeting
Develop financial models for revenue forecasting, cost analysis, and operating expenses.
Assist in annual budgeting and strategic planning processes.
Identify key business drivers impacting financial performance.
Business Performance Analysis
Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. forecast) and provide actionable recommendations.
Support pricing strategies, product profitability analysis, and investment decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Product teams to align financial goals with business strategies.
Provide financial insights for executive decision-making and strategic initiatives.
Salary Range $113.7K - $164.7K USD (Bay Area, California only). Actual salary may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, experience, training, etc. Incentive opportunities reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
3+ years of experience in FP&A, P&L management, or corporate finance—preferably in semiconductor or technology industry.
Strong knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Proficiency in financial tools such as Oracle, Hyperion, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do perspective.
