Job Overview Senior Enterprise Architect – IT Architecture – Natural Resources Building, Olympia WA. Full-time, Permanent, Department of Natural Resources. Compensation $8,522–$11,460 monthly. Telework options available. Apply online at careers.wa.gov.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain enterprise-wide architecture models, diagrams, and documentation to ensure alignment with agency goals.

Build and maintain a two-year rolling IT roadmap that identifies modernization priorities, end‑of‑life risks, funding requirements, and efficiency opportunities.

Develop conceptual, logical, and physical models of future‑state architecture incorporating hardware/software frameworks aligned with agency mission and IT strategy.

Align enterprise architecture and engineering efforts with business strategy and agency outcomes.

Define and enforce enterprise architecture principles, standards, and compliance to ensure consistency across all initiatives.

Lead and support enterprise-wide IT initiatives that drive strategic alignment and technology adoption.

Advise leadership, service owners, and business partners on technology decisions, ensuring alignment with mission and strategy.

Communicate architecture perspectives in language tailored for executives and technical teams.

Monitor and improve enterprise architecture performance through measurable outcomes and partner feedback.

Required Qualifications

BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND 8 years of progressive experience in IT architecture support and solutions.

Advanced knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF).

Proficiency in architecture modeling tools and diagramming platforms.

Experience evaluating technologies and aligning architecture with business strategy.

Experience with on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud infrastructure.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience in public sector or highly regulated environment.

Experience modernizing legacy systems or leading digital transformation initiatives.

Enterprise‑level IT governance or standards development experience.

TOGAF certification.
