Annual Giving Specialist Join Meals on Wheels People — A Mission‑Driven Nonprofit Making a Difference for Over 50 Years! Meals on Wheels People is a community‑founded nonprofit dedicated to nourishing older adults in the Portland Metro area through meal delivery and meaningful social connections. We are looking for an Annual Giving Specialist who will be responsible for implementing the strategic direction around identifying and reaching individual annual donors for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Working closely with the Development Operations & Fundraising Manager, the Individual and Planned Giving Manager, and the marketing team, the Annual Giving Specialist will help guide the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all annual and leadership‑level donors through direct mail, digital activities, and stewardship strategies. The Annual Giving Specialist will use donor data and analysis to implement strategies around monthly donors, acquisition, recapture rate, upgrades, retention rate, and renewals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Works with Development Operations & Fundraising Manager to develop and implement the annual giving solicitation plan for individual annual, monthly, and leadership‑level donors. Creates and coordinates the schedule and strategies for annual giving appeals and direct mail by actively supporting creative concepts, editing appeal content, and overseeing mailing procedures. Manages upgrade, acquisition, and stewardship strategies for Chef’s Table (donors $1k+). Manages upgrade, acquisition, and stewardship strategies for Sustainers Circle (recurring donors). Works with Individual Giving Manager and Development Coordinator to create, plan, and implement leadership giving events. Works with Development Operations & Fundraising Manager and other key staff to segment data for appeals and special projects, as well as produce database reports and queries to track campaigns and appeal status. Works closely with external vendors including LKA Fundraising and Constant Contact. Analyzes data to make appropriate adjustments to activities and programs to ensure strong results. Tracks trends in direct mail and annual giving donor activity, focusing on donor retention and recapture, and performs annual evaluation of annual giving efforts each fiscal year, generating a comprehensive annual plan for the coming fiscal year. Responds to donor inquiries. Collaborates with key development staff on special fundraising campaigns like Wheels for Meals, Giving Tuesday, Give Guide, WA Gives Big, and Donate Dinner. Oversees and implements stewardship activities for annual donors. Identifies strong annual giving donors for planned and major gift qualification. Manages a portfolio of mid-level donors. Supports mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Meals on Wheels People, Inc. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Knowledge Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Project Management preferred and/or directly related professional skills and experience in Fundraising and Development. Knowledge of donor data management systems required; working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, RE NXT, and Constant Contact preferred.

Skills, Abilities & Experience Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in direct mail and development experience. Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages preferred. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite and proven database management experience. Experience working with budgets, preparing financial spreadsheets, and tracking expenditures. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong team orientation, exemplary project management skills and a high customer service focus. Highly organized, ability to multi‑task and flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment. Skill and motivation to work with a multi‑cultural and socially diverse populations with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations including aging, minority, low income and persons with disabilities. Willing to work extended hours to support special events, activities and other deadlines. Passion for serving seniors in our community.

Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands Fast paced, with significant people interaction. May be required to move up to 40lbs and occasional reaching, bending and stooping to assist with annual events. Ability to operate general office equipment. Travel around the Portland and Vancouver‑metro area; valid driver’s license, auto insurance and transportation required. Must successfully complete and pass pre‑employment screening.
