Volunteer Engagement Manager
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers for The Legacy Midtown Park under The Legacy Senior Communities volunteer program. Work in partnership with The Legacy Willow Bend Volunteer Engagement Manager and coordinate volunteer activities with lifestyle coordinators, staff, managers, and directors to enrich the lives of residents and meet spiritual, cultural, and community service needs.
Responsibilities
Consult with supervisors, managers, directors, and appropriate staff to understand operational needs and align the volunteer program accordingly.
Interview, screen, assess skills, and match applicants to assignments that maximize individual talents.
Educate volunteers about who we are and the services we provide.
Orient and train volunteers prior to assignment or activity.
Supervise and monitor the performance of volunteers.
Serve as liaison between administration, staff, and volunteers.
Expand the volunteer program and create new opportunities.
Develop and coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation events.
Assist the Rabbi in recruiting volunteers and/or clergy for Jewish religious programming and services including Shabbat and High Holiday services.
Make appropriate connections between volunteers and fund development.
Collaborate with all divisions of The Legacy Senior Communities to support volunteer efforts and ensure alignment with organizational needs.
Educational Requirements & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in volunteer management/coordination or related field.
Understanding of the role and needs of volunteers in a not-for-profit setting.
Familiarity with legal aspects of a volunteer program and HIPAA regulations.
Recognition of the potential benefits of an interactive and vibrant volunteer program.
Effective interview skills for selecting volunteer candidates.
Ability to communicate in a friendly and informative manner with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Strong ability to identify program needs.
Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to make effective presentations.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
Ability to inspire and motivate others.
Flexible and positive attitude.
Good problem-solving skills and responsiveness to changing volunteer needs.
Proficiency in using computers and program-related software.
Ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports; maintain volunteer database.
Adherence to the organization’s values and ability to convey its purpose to others.
