Supervisor Executive director or designee
Summary To promote co-curricular development of each student in the District who participates in athletic/activity programs. Serve as a member of the Administration Council (AdCo).
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise the coordination and evaluation of middle school and high school athletics and activities to ensure high quality programs.
Prepare and submit the District’s budget for activities and athletics, assign schools’ funds and monitor expenditures in the decentralized budget in order to maintain, control and account for student activity funds.
Manage district athletic stadiums and coordinate improvement plans to ensure facilities meet the state and national standards.
Plan and supervise safety emergency procedures for the stadiums to ensure the well‑being of students, parents and faculty.
Develop role descriptions and performance contracts with coaches and sponsors for responsibility pay, supplementary pay, and submit to the Executive Director of High School Education to meet district policy standards.
Work with appropriate administrators in the recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, training and assigning of the school’s certified and non‑certified coaches to contribute to the selection of the best qualified candidates.
Oversee AAA Committee with responsibilities to approve new clubs, monitor existing, and delineate supplemental pay, ensuring high levels of student participation in activities.
Lead middle school and high school athletic/activities directors’ meetings to ensure continuity of program, communication, and coordination of events.
Promote effective communication between the schools and community to create positive support, understanding and participation for continued program improvement.
Monitor gender equity in athletics by preparing Title IX reports and evaluates requests for new programs to maintain equality and parity of programs in athletics/activities across the District.
Participate in District administrators’ meetings and other District meetings as required or appropriate.
Oversee the summer recreation activities, sports camps and facilities to enhance the quality and quantity of programs in athletics/activities across the District when school is not in session.
Prepare such reports as may be required to keep Superintendent and Executive Directors informed regarding the athletic/activities programs.
Work with appropriate central office administrative personnel regarding school needs, such as human resources, financial and accounting functions, maintenance, security, concessions, and recreational programs in order to promote integrated operations for athletics and activities.
Develop and coordinate a system for enhancing sportsmanship throughout the District to encourage healthy competition while maintaining a balance of respect for one another.
Direct procedures for athlete registration, orientation, and fee collection.
Participate in Centennial League meetings and the CHSAA Board of Control providing District perspective and leadership while determining rules and regulations governing our local and state organization.
Supervise and coordinate the preparation of all athletic schedules within the District in order to effectively and efficiently use facilities.
Represent the District in arrangements and scheduling of post season athletic events including district, regional, and state culminating events.
Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree, with emphasis in athletics, activities, leadership and administration.
A Colorado Administrator/Principal License.
Demonstrated skill in human relations, communication, leadership and organizational theory.
Demonstrated experience directing a successful athletic and/or activities program.
