Overview Do you like to use network and Unix systems engineering to deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions? Would you like to play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks? AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
Key Job Responsibilities
Work closely with our automation teams in defining tools that allow us to scale at higher volume.
Lead network projects in the areas of network sustaining engineering, network deployment/implementation, network scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
Sustain Amazon Web Services’ next-generation networks for significant AWS customers by providing critical network support to diagnose, mitigate impact, and resolve large-scale networking events.
Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configuration issues, including necessary low-level application interaction, Unix systems, and new-age networking software tools.
Partner with our broader Network/Infrastructure organization in the areas of network engineering, configuration standards, and tools.
Work closely with our Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, as well as assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure that we are fully compliant to those standards and policies.
Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
Create and review documentation and process regarding network implementation/deployments, recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer material.
A Day in the Life
Work in a 24x7 team on call rotation, with ability to drive into workplace for critical events/needs.
Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of work in large-scale networking environments experience.
4+ years of network, system, or software architecture experience.
4+ years of technical support experience, or experience taking ownership and driving resolution on escalated customer issues.
1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies.
Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in Linux and Networking protocols and troubleshooting.
Experience with network, system, or software architecture.
Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting.
Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Javascript.
