Description Use network and Unix systems engineering to deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions. Play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of AWS’s backbone, enterprise, and regional engineering (BERE) team.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with automation teams to define tools that enable higher‑volume scalability.
Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization.
Sustain next‑generation AWS networks for large customers by diagnosing, mitigating, and resolving large‑scale events.
Operate and troubleshoot routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configuration issues, including low‑level application interaction, Unix systems, and new‑age networking software.
Partner with broader network/infrastructure organization on engineering, configuration standards, and tools.
Work with network, systems, and software engineering teams to roll out new designs and products smoothly and support networking software tools.
Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance with policies.
Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
Create and review documentation on network implementation, deployments, recurring issues, new SOPs, and knowledge transfer.
A Day in the Life
Work on a 24x7 on‑call rotation and drive into the workplace for critical events.
Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with breaks, maintaining alertness and attention to detail.
Travel to data center, network sites, and Amazon/customer offices as needed.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years in large‑scale networking environments.
4+ years of network, system, or software architecture experience.
4+ years of technical support experience, including ownership of escalated customer issues.
1+ year of automation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, Perl).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals – BGP, OSPF, and other R&S technologies.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.
Experience in Linux, networking protocols, and networking administration.
Experience with network, system, or software architecture.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or JavaScript.

Compensation The base pay range for this position is $127,400 per year in the lowest geographic market up to $212,800 per year in the highest. Amazon is a total compensation company. Equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided.
