Unit Supervisor – PACU – 48X Complex Location:

Job Summary The primary role involves supervision of all staff in the 48X Preop-PACU/Extended Recovery Unit HUSC III and Patient Navigators to ensure efficient clerical support and outstanding customer service for patients and families. This position coordinates patient care services to promote efficient patient flow through the OR pre‑op PACU units and serves as both a supervisor and a working resource person in the 48X OR Preop/PACU and Extended Recovery Unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR certification.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
Supervisory experience.
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a hospital unit clerk and/or medical office coordinator.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
Customer service experience in a healthcare environment.
Proficiency with the job competencies of the HUSC III and Patient Navigator positions for the OR Pre‑Op PACU.
Knowledge of OR Pre‑Op PACU computer data‑collection processes.
Ability to utilize relevant medical terminology.
Excellent communication skills to provide outstanding customer service to the target audience.
Ability to interact and maintain communication with multidisciplinary teams.
Analytical skills to evaluate data processes, make decisions, provide recommendations, and resolve issues.
Strong problem‑solving skills to independently define problems and implement viable solutions.
Decision‑making abilities to exercise delegated authority and recognize when to seek assistance.
Ability to work independently under high demands with minimal direction.
Excellent organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal clarity.
Ability to handle stressful situations and conduct Quality Assurance monitoring.
Computer proficiency, especially with EPIC EMR; monitor cost effectiveness of supplies.
Physically able to lift at least 25 pounds; have adequate vision, hearing, and speaking ability.

Department Overview The 48X Complex at UC Davis Health is a state‑of‑the‑art outpatient surgery center featuring 14 operating rooms, 59 recovery bays, 14 private recovery rooms, 96 exam rooms, and 19 clinical treatment rooms. The Pre‑Op/PACU unit focuses on preparing patients for and aiding in the recovery from anesthetic agents, airway management, pain control, sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring for same‑day or overnight surgical services.
