Permanent Faculty position in the Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The prospective faculty member will join a team of seven neurointensivists providing neurocritical care services in the state‑of‑the‑art Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at UNC Medical Center. The appointment will be for either a fixed‑term or tenure‑track faculty position, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications.

Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine seeks a board‑certified/board‑eligible (BC/BE) Neurointensivist. The successful candidate will provide primary clinical responsibility in the NSICU, attend on‑call services for intermediate care neurology inpatients, and serve as consultant for ICU neurology cases. The NSICU currently has 22 beds, staffed by neurointensivists, advanced practice providers, and trainees, and is expected to expand to 33 beds. The appointment also offers opportunities for research and academic advancement, including teaching and leadership in the affiliated Neurocritical Care fellowship program.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements M.D. or D.O. degree, board certified or board eligible through the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Neurology, and additional training in a neurocritical care fellowship. The candidate must be ABMS / ABPN certified/eligible in neurocritical care and be eligible for a North Carolina medical license.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Individuals who have developed research interests with extramural funding or who envision a career that balances neurocritical care with other specialties (e.g., clinical neurophysiology, vascular neurology, neurohospitalist services) are especially encouraged to apply.
