Position Overview The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a board certified/board eligible (BC/BE) Neurointensivist to join our growing group. The successful candidate will join our team of 7 neurointensivists providing neurocritical care services in our state-of-the-art Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill. The appointment is for either a fixed-term or tenure-track faculty appointment. This recruitment is open rank and dependent upon qualification/experience of the candidate.

Position Summary The NSICU has 22 beds staffed full-time by neurointensivists, advanced practice providers, and trainees from multiple specialties. The unit will expand to about 33 beds. We have an ACGME-accredited fellowship program in Neurocritical Care. The faculty recruit will provide primary clinical responsibility in the NSICU, attend intermediate care neurology inpatients, and provide ICU neurology consults. UNC Medical Center is a tertiary referral center, Joint Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level I trauma center. UNC School of Medicine is a US News top 30, collaborates with Duke for StrokeNet research, and offers extensive research opportunities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements The qualified candidate must have an M.D. or D.O. degree and be board certified or eligible through ABMS of Neurology. Additional training in a neurocritical care fellowship is required. Must be certified or eligible in neurocritical care by ABMS or ABPN and be eligible to obtain a North Carolina medical license.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience We are particularly interested in candidates with extramural research funding or a career that balances neurocritical care with other services such as clinical neurophysiology, vascular neurology, or neurohospitalist services.
