Minimum Qualifications
- Applicant must have completed sixty (60) semester college credit hours from an accredited college or university by the application deadline.

- 60 college credit hours or an associate’s degree may be waived if one or more of the following applies: (1) the applicant has served 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances less than honorable OR (2) the applicant has served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty that is recognized by the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable.
- If not already a member, a $55 non-refundable membership fee to National Testing Network (NTN), and/or $12 to participate in City of Prospect Heights examination testing.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- 20 to under 35 years of age as of the date of the written exam, but must be 21 prior to appointment, unless otherwise provided by the Rules and Regulations and/or Illinois Statute.
- No felony convictions.
- Residency in Illinois by date of hire.
Salary and Benefits
Starting: $77,625
After Academy and FTO: $82,671 or $85,564
After 5 Years: $125,580
