Job Description
Lead the design, development, validation, and release of High Voltage (HV) wiring harnesses and associated components, ensuring compliance with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.
Drive design improvements to enhance product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and optimize system weight.
Capable of designing and updating wiring changes in 3DX/Catia based on all requirements and systems schematics.
Apply Robustness Engineering Disciplines (e.g., Quality history, P‑Diagram, FMEA) to ensure compliance with requirements and specifications.
Lead Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) and participate in design reviews, presenting proposals to stakeholders.
Manage release of parts in systems like FEDEBOM and WERS through the product life cycle and support Change Control Meetings.
Perform Harness Complexity Analysis and engineering cost estimates.
Define and verify engineering prototype requirements at the part level.
Develop and execute test plans, including validation, durability, and functional tests per requirements and specifications (e.g., DVP / FEDE DVP dashboard). Conduct bench testing, vehicle integration testing, functional validation, performance testing, and safety validation of HV systems and components, focusing on HV wiring harnesses. Analyze data and implement design improvements.
Lead issue resolution in Digital and Build Phases of Product Development for HV EDS.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams: mechanical design, battery systems, powertrain, controls, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality to ensure seamless integration, optimal packaging, and design for manufacturability (DFM) of HV EDS.
Manage supplier relationships for high voltage components and HV wiring harnesses, ensuring adherence to specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards (ISO 26262, UL, SAE, IEC), safety regulations, and company‑specific requirements for high voltage systems.
Support prototype and production build events for forward model programs, including parts implementation/sign‑off in manufacturing and assembly plants and assisting quality issue resolution at all milestones.
Support quality and manufacturing quality forums as required.
Comply with GPDS deliverables (applicable to EDS) for each milestone.
Comply with training as outlined in calendar year objectives.
Skills Required
Design Release Engineer – Primary skill besides experience in design and release of wiring harness is experience with validation testing plans, including developing the plans and leading the testing efforts.
Skills Preferred
CAD Design – 3DX experience a plus, with CATIA/TeamCenter or other CAD experience considered.
Experience Required
5–10 years of high voltage wiring harness design and vehicle launch experience.
Basic 3D CAD Knowledge (3DX preferred, TeamCenter, CATIA).
GPDS knowledge and understanding.
Experience with automotive PPAP process.
Understanding of feature partitioning, automotive systems.
Experience Preferred
Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics desired).
Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
Time and Project Management.
Wiring harness manufacturing knowledge.
Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, line flow charts.
Component testing experience (bench/dyno/vehicle).
Working knowledge of commercially available AI tools and resources.
Education Required
Bachelor's Degree.
